Sierra Club: Feed the Earth, Not the Landfill Campaign
For the midterm, I created a series of assets for Sierra Club’s food waste public education campaign. The campaign aims to educate diverse audiences – general, environmentally-friendly, and do-gooders – to understand the current state of food waste in landfills and its consequences. The campaign also seeks to encourage behavior change by providing tips on how to “Feed the Earth, Not the Landfill” through waste prevention and composting.

🌱 We’ve taken strides towards a more sustainable planet. So why does the U.S. still have a wasted food problem? The average American generates about 4.9 pounds of solid waste daily, and instead of being composted, it’s all dumped into our landfills.
Fortunately, there are small lifestyle changes we can take to minimize food waste altogether.

Food waste is a leading contributor to climate pollution. In 2015, the USDA and EPA joined forces to set a nationwide goal to cut food waste by 50% by 2030. Food waste prevention efforts can:
🌱 Impact climate change
🍓 Increase food security
💲 Improve the economy and save money
⚡️ Conserve energy

Food waste is the single most common material landfilled, generating greenhouse gas emissions dangerous for our climate.
Reducing these emissions starts at the source. It’s up to us to feed the Earth, not the landfill.
