Manchester is in the business of greatness, but what does the arrival of Manchester United W.F.C. mean for Connecticut?
On the pitch, women’s soccer (or football, depending on which side of the ocean you’re on) is one of the best sports to watch. Off the pitch, it represents one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is some of the best and most unique soccer is played and we are ready to compete for the honor of calling ourselves the best. Enter Manchester United W.F.C. This is what you need to know about the NWSL’s latest expansion team.
A tale of two Manchesters
Though our roots are in England, Connecticut is our home. Manchester United W.F.C. is not an English team playing “footy” in the United States. We are a bona fide American soccer team with grit, intensity and passion. Manchester United football is our heritage, but Manchester United W.F.C. in the U.S. our legacy. The NWSL is looking for its next generation of soccer icons. We’re throwing our hats in the ring. Manchester, Connecticut, is poised to be a soccer city.

Manchester’s greatest hits
Everyone’s heard of Man Utd. The club has over 1 billion fans worldwide! The club’s history is filled with iconic moments that have defined football worldwide. To us, Manchester United’s successes aren’t a past to live up to but a tradition that we want to carry. The greatest hits we create in the NWSL will be ours. The tracks haven’t been written yet but expect some great ones.

Building a community
We have a hunch that our fans will be some of the best on both sides of the pond. The best teams in the league and the world don’t just play on the pitch. They play for their community. Whether it’s youth development or MUWFC fanfests, we want to take our supporters along for the ride as we cultivate a culture where fans can support the team with pride and heads held high. We’re still figuring out our space in the NWSL, but we know we’d like the community to help us out.
